We are honored to have Winston Minix, Executive Director of Career and Technical Education of GPISD join us as our guest speaker as a part of our Journey to Inclusiveness series at the Chamber. If time allows, there will be Q&A following the Presentation.
About our speaker:
Winston Minix is the Executive Director of Career & Technical Education for Grand Prairie ISD. He works very closely with the Area Superintendents, Executive Director of College Readiness, the Executive Director of Counseling and all secondary principals to support students and teachers in CTE pathways and courses. He implemented the initial Internship Program for GPISD in 2012, the Senior Project in 2012, and the Junior Job Shadowing Program. He is also responsible for the revising of our CTE Advisory board, establishing the Advisory Committee, developing our first annual CTE scholarship opportunities, establishing our CTE Action Team, and producing our first CTE Action Plan. His largest successful initiative was to increase the business relationships and involvement from zero to over 150 business partners.
Prior to Grand Prairie ISD, Winston served as the Coordinator of Internships and CTE teacher for Spring ISD in Texas and Clayton County Public Schools in Georgia. In 2020, he is serving as a Board of Director for Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce, board member for InterLink, member of National Career Academy Coalition, a member of the Texas Association School Administrators, a member of the National Alliance of Black School Educators and a member of the Career & Technical Education of North Texas administrators.
